Brushing Up
It may be time to take a refresher course.
Managing skills need a brush up?
How’s your communication?
Need to practice your foreign language of choice?
Want to learn a new computer program? Is your business demanding it?
Take a week and sign up for a course in whatever it is you need to know.
Community colleges offer a plethora of classes that are relatively inexpensive and give you great potential.
They will certainly give you a leg up on your competition. The more you know, the better you’ll do.
It doesn’t matter how old you are or how long you’ve been in the biz. Learning should never end.
No commentsHide And Seek
The Internet is a strange place.
On the one hand, we want to use it to search and find all we can.
On the other hand, we want to be hidden and impossible to find.
Find but don’t be found. It seems to be the general consensus.
Well, luckily, the Internet lets us have it all. As does the software we choose!
For the best ways to hide yourself, there are programs that allow you to protect all of your personal information and data from spying eyes, and send and receive encrypted email.
And for the best ways to search, there are ten-thousand search engines to help you out!
The possibilities are endless.
No commentsProblem Solving Part II
So how do you solve those ever-pressing problems?
Let’s face it - even though you’re the boss, you may not be great with confrontations.
Communication is a tough art to master.
You can be a genius at selling your ideas or doing the books, but dealing with people on a one-on-one basis is more difficult than it sounds.
It can be very intimidating, though is absolutely necessary, to confront the problem at the root and weed it out.
If it’s an employee who is making your work hard, have a private discussion with him/her right away.
If it’s a problem you made, acknowledge that you, too, make mistakes, and show your staff that you can step it up, as well.

It would definitely be nice if all areas of your business flowed smoothly all the time.
But that’s a dream and living in a dream world will only blind you to the truth.
If you aren’t living in a truthful existence, you aren’t doing yourself or anyone else any good.
Oh, and one more thing. You are bound to fail.
So when problems arise, don’t turn the other cheek.
Face problems head on. Nipping them in the bud early will spare you headaches and most importantly, spare your business.
Any number of issues may arise that will need immediate attention.
It could be an argument between coworkers, a discrepancy with an order or a failed health inspection, for example.
Whatever the case, solve it and solve it soon! It’s nice to live in the clouds, but that’s not what dreams are really about. They’re about making them a reality.
No commentsManaging Yourself
As a small business owner, you know better than anyone that your work is never done.
We’ve talked about hiring managers, but what if you decide to take on the task yourself?
It’s your prerogative.
Though it may not be the smartest or most efficient decision, most small business owners will agree that handing over responsibility is a very tough thing to do.
So if you do decide to manage yourself, you’ll need some help from some very creative and modern tools.
You’ll need a Connection Manager to help you stay hooked up to the Internet.
Perhaps a Pocket Theme Manager could assist you in staying up-to-date with all your personal and business contacts.

One way to make your customers feel unique and not just like another number is to offer special orders.
Having a “made to order” business opens many doors other traditional retail business do not.
With personalized products, customers feel as though they are participating in the design and beauty of the items they are purchasing.
Whether it be jewelry, t-shirts, furniture, haircuts or whatever your specialty may be, customers will love having it made their way!
It keeps ideas fresh and keeps customers wanting more.
Customized products are ideal for weddings, birthdays, anniversaries, graduations and more.
Participating in these big money-making occasions would be a mistake to pass up.
So let your customers do the innovating. You just provide the place!

The weather has finally turned around.
It’s hot, hot, hot!
People are out with the sun and they are itching to spend.
Be grateful for these days of warm summer rays because they will only help your business.
Though you might be beat from the smokin’ weather, tired and worn out, don’t put your feet up just yet!
Now is the time to boost your revenue.
The clearer the sky, the easier it is to get those hungry, thirsty, wardrobe-deficient customers running into your establishment.
Sidewalk sale, anyone?

There’s a nice way to say it.
You’re frugal.
So what?
So the thing to remember is to spend where it counts and save where it doesn’t.
Don’t scrimp on plumbing. Don’t scrimp on your alarm system.
But do you have to buy the finest dishes for your patrons to eat upon?
Do you have to purchase the most expensive light fixtures?
No, you don’t.
Where you see an opportunity to save a few bucks, it would be wise of you to do so.
You can still retain your personal style and be as hip and chic as ever.
You’ll just have extra dollars in your pocket to spend elsewhere. And the more you stretch your money, the better your position will be in the future.
